This is a post for EVO session: Blogging4educators, week 3, task 4. I´d have to choose one of the titles and write about it. My choice was "Reflections on learning" more specifically "learning online". These are a few things I´ve learned while blogging:
- People actually read what you write.
- Leaving comments in blogs is a great way to get to know people. It´s nice to leave your blog address after your name so that the person can visit your blog as well.
- I´ve discovered I love images. My posts HAVE to have images. :)
- It can be addictive and overwhelming at first. I had to organize my time very well so as to keep an eye on my family and I normally write a lists of tasks for that day in order to guide myself surfing.
- Become friends with technology: the more you use tools the easier and less scary they become. Use microphone, webcam, record yourself, BE BOLD.
- Visit other people´s blogs and ask questions if you want to learn how to do something they have done in their own blogs. People are very willing to teach and help.
- Share your knowledge with other people, involve other teachers and you can learn together.
Dear Ana Maria,
ReplyDeleteThis is Angela, from Uberlândia, I don't think I know you but I know Luis (everyone knows him, right). I also know Camila Souza, Maira and Luciana Rocha, who work at Cultura.
I loved this post of yours. I must say I love pictures too. It's good to know that I can ask people how they did something cool because I did leave messages asking questions but wasn't sure it was a nice thing to do. It is my first time blogging and it is in fact addictive.
I'll try to follow your tips.
Hugs,
Angela
PS: hope to meet you some day
Hi Ana Maria,
ReplyDeleteThis post is the story of my (current) life. I really don't know how I'd deal with a second life (even though I'd really like one!)
Kids complain that I'm always on the internet and there is so much to read that I sometimes have problems finding time to write!
Oh well. I'm having fun and learning a lot!
Thanks Angela and Illya for the comments and visit. It´s always nice to know you´re being heard (read) somewhere. :)

Ana Maria,
ReplyDeleteI loved reading your reflections about learning online! You are well-known for your visually-appealing blogs. I have to admit that I don't use images enough on my blog because I am such a text person! Could you share with me where you find such great visuals for your blog?
As always, it is great to co-moderate with you!
Hugs,
MaryH
Dear Mary,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the compliment and that´s true, I love images. I normally get them from photobucket.com, rockyou.com, glassgiant or even screenshots of what I want to show. I guess pictures not only colour a post but also adds some visual info. I´m also enjoying the B4Ed experience tremendously. Great to be part of the team.
Dear Ana Maria,
ReplyDeleteI truly appreciate the visual appeal of your blog, too.
Although browsing to learn about voice augmented tutorials brought me around (I've linked to your Pod-O-Matic tutorial already), I noticed that Mary asked where you get your visuals.
Another source I heard about today is the Flickr Creative Commons (Flickr CC).
Alan Levine suggests he uses Flickr CC images often in his July 5, 2007, CogDogBlog review and demo of VoiceThread:
Easy Peasy Rich Media - VoiceThreads
Working with VoiceThreads seems incredibly easy. If you get a full-fledged account, VoiceThreads might even replace screencasts to keep you from "getting crazy" (your first try, February 04, 2008).
Cheers, Paul
